More pics from this morning
About to Head Home
Well, it's day number two in the hospital and both mommy and Caleb are doing great. It's been quite a ride. Caleb was circumcised last night. Let's just say I'm glad they do it when we're babies....yikes! Caleb has been feeding like a champ...they boy can suck! Yesterday they detected a small heart murmur. It's still there today, so they're doing some more checking. However, it doesn't seem to be that big a deal. Initial tests show no signs of anything wrong.
All and all, we're doing pretty darn good and excited about bringing Caleb home! We just got told we can go home! We'll post more later. Here are some more pics from yesterday and today.

Welcome Caleb Michael!!!
So, Thursday Amy and I are eating at Happy Panda talking about how we need to go to Costco before Caleb comes. So, we head to Costco and get some stuff (i.e. TP, batteries, meat, etc). Did I mention this happens to be the biggest Costco in the world? Needless to say we spent a lot of time walking. Then Amy had a Pregnancy Acupressure Massage later that night at around 9pm. Oh, I forgot to mention that we had a doctors appointment on that afternoon at 2:20. Our midwife performed some natural induction methods.
Well, at around 10:45 pm it started to become clear that Amy was different type contractions. By 12:30 am her contractions had been 3 minutes apart for over an hour. We called our duola and midwife and headed to the hospital.
When we arrived at the hospital Amy was at around 2 cm. Within 1.5 hours she had progressed to 8 cm. Can you say, "ouch!" Seeing Amy in this kind of pain was not pleasant. By this time in the labor the whole phrase "just say no to drugs" was not in our reptorie.
By 10:36 am on Friday, Nov 2nd little Caleb came into the world. Man, that was the craziest, most amazing thing I've ever been apart of...I'm still coming off the high.
Caleb weighed 7 lbs 1 oz and was 19 3/4 inch in length. Both Caleb and Amy are doing great. Thanks to everyone for your prayers!

Pearl Update
I talked with Ryan on Saturday and Pearl had surgery to remove a small portion of her large intestine on Friday. Pearl did great and is now recouperating. Hopefully she will be able to go home this week. Ryan and Jessica are so thankful for your prayers! I'll let you know once I hear that she's made it home.

Pearl Update
It looks like Pearl does have Hirschsprung's Disease. In a way this has come as a relief to Ryan and Jessica as they know what's wrong and they can act to correct it. It looks like surgery will be necessary, so I'll keep you up to date on that as things progress.
Please keep praying!

Pearl Update
Well, scratch the previous post. They were giving Pearl medication, but it's not getting better. They are now going to perform a biopsy of the large intestine to rule out a disease known as Hirschsprung's Disease. Obviously, we're praying that Pearl doesn't have it. They're taking the biopsy today, but it will take about 1-2 weeks to get back the results.
Right now Pearl is being fed intravenously, so the doctors are also concerned about problems arising with her digestive system since it's not being used.
Please keep praying! Ryan is one of my best friends and I can only imagine what he and Jessica are going through. We're there supporting them as best we can! Thanks for your prayers.

Update on Pearl
Thank you to everyone who is praying!
I just received word that apparently Pearl had an infection/virus that was causing her body to not be able to digest food. They have her on some medications and she is responding well to them. They will stay in the hospital (NICU) for possible a couple of more days to see how this goes. Keep praying and praising God! Things are looking better!

Prayers for Pearl
As mentioned in the previous post, my friend Ryan and Jessica had their baby girl last week. I just recieved word that Pearl had to be taken to the hospital today due to some complications. I don't know the details, but Ryan and Jessica are obviously freaking out a little. Please pray for Pearl that she will be okay. I'll keep you posted.

Hood-to-Coast 2007
Hood-to-Coast is a 12-runner relay race that starts at Mt Hood and ends 197 miles later at Seaside (on the coast). This is my 3 rd year to run the race and my first year to be the team captain. It was a blast!
We ended up finishing the race in 29 hours 34 minutes 30 seconds.
If you're curious about H2C feel free to check out their website (click here).
If you want to see more pics of our team, Truth Sneakers, click on the picture. We going to try and run again next year provided we get in. They only allow 1000 teams! This picture is of Van 1. Van 2 has the other 6 runners. Basically we leapfrog until we get to the coast. The sixth runner is the one taking the picture (for those detail oriented people)!

Caleb's Room
The Beginning
Welcome to our blog! This is our first post to our new family blog that we'll use to keep you up-to-date on our activities up here in Portland!
Of course, it will quickly become all about Caleb, but until then we'll get some practice posting some of the things we're up to.
Here's a couple of quick pics of us just being us.
Amy's about 35 weeks along! So, that means we have about 5 weeks to go!
We can't wait!
